Strengthening leadership practices at this challenging time

Join us monthly in our continuing conversation for leaders at all levels.

Next Webinar: Deepening the Conversation - Wednesday, May 27 at 1:00 pm Pacific

Executive Coaches Andrea Chilcote, Sheppard Lake and Laura Roccaforte are back to engage in frank and practical dialogue about best practices employed by successful leaders at this time, when our work and lives are disrupted and the future is uncertain. They will offer perspective, share tangible tools, and answer questions from participants.

Whether your business is preparing for a partial return to the workplace, still working remotely, or never left, leaders are working to maintain connection, compassion and engagement as well as build resilience at this challenging time. The conversations have deepened, anxiety levels have increased and authenticity is highlighted as never before. What do leaders need now?

It begins with you. For you to be reliable in the conversation with members of your team, you must be fully present. This experience has evoked our core wounds, and our unique stress behaviors have been triggered. Distinguishing your own triggers from those in the collective environment is a key first step to finding resilience in yourself.

Calling forth resilience in others is the leader’s new responsibility. The leader’s role is to engage team members now, and the leader’s purpose is to find meaning from it all in order to create the future. Leaders have historically avoided feelings and some have perceived coaching conversations negatively. Now, we all must build the capability for authentic conversations.

Some team members will appear “stuck” despite your efforts. Helping people reframe negativity and manage stress behavior requires advanced skills and a development mindset. And, there will be a need to refer some for coaching support, professional counseling or therapy. Leaders must be able to make a distinction between the needs for these services and their own responsibility.
